After unveiling the CAG report on Delhi’s excise policy, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is set to present another crucial report in the Delhi Assembly on Friday—the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report on ‘Public Health Infrastructure and Management of Health Services.’ This report is expected to reveal alarming gaps in government hospitals, mohalla clinics, and overall healthcare facilities in the national capital.

According to India Today sources, the CAG report will highlight discrepancies between the claims made by the previous Delhi government and the actual condition of public health services. It will evaluate the availability of medical equipment, medicine supply, number of doctors and nurses, and patient care facilities in government-run hospitals.

One of the key aspects of the report will be an assessment of how effectively the Delhi government utilized its allocated health budget. During 2022-23 and 2023-24, the previous administration made big promises regarding healthcare improvements, but did these translate into real benefits for patients? The CAG report is expected to answer this crucial question.

BJP leaders have already accused the former government of mismanaging the healthcare system, citing shortages of essential medicines, lack of proper medical facilities, and overburdened hospitals. Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Singh said, “The previous government made grand claims about strengthening healthcare, but the reality is far from it. The CAG report will expose everything.”

The Mohalla Clinic scheme is also likely to come under scrutiny in the report, as previous surveys have pointed out a severe shortage of doctors, lack of essential medicines, and inadequate treatment for patients.

The Delhi Assembly session, which has been extended until March 1, is expected to witness heated debates once the CAG findings on public health are tabled. With the BJP cornering the previous government over its alleged failures, the report could become a major political flashpoint in the national capital.
