In a landmark move set to reshape the political landscape of Telangana, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced that 60 out of 153 party tickets (approximately 39.2%) will be allotted to women candidates in the next Assembly elections. This decision marks a bold commitment by the ruling government to enhance gender representation in the state legislature.
The announcement also aligns with the upcoming implementation of the Women’s Reservation policy, under which 51 Assembly seats (33%) are to be officially reserved for women in Telangana. Reddy’s declaration signals an intent not just to comply with the constitutional mandate but to go a step further and set a new standard for inclusive governance.
