In a major push to fast-track infrastructure development in the national capital, BJP leaders including Minister Parvesh Verma, North East Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari, and Delhi Deputy Assembly Speaker Mohan Singh Bisht conducted a joint inspection of the much-awaited Nand Nagri double-decker flyover project on Monday.

The inspection comes after prolonged delays due to bureaucratic hurdles, particularly the non-clearance of tree-shifting permissions. Originally scheduled for completion in 2024, the project had stalled after 27 trees along the proposed alignment created legal and environmental bottlenecks.

Now, with the clearance finally granted and coordination between key departments like the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and the Forest Department, the project is set to gain momentum. Officials confirmed that work has resumed in full swing.

Deputy Speaker Mohan Singh Bisht highlighted how the “double-engine” government—referring to BJP’s presence at both the Centre and municipal levels—has helped remove procedural deadlocks that plagued such projects in the past. He praised the swift action taken to relocate obstructing trees and acknowledged the role of the new state leadership under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta in pushing the initiative forward.

Union Minister Parvesh Verma emphasized that infrastructure development is a top priority for the current government. He stated that after multiple rounds of coordination and file movement, they were finally able to secure the required permissions that had kept the project in limbo.

The double-decker flyover at Nand Nagri is expected to ease congestion significantly in North East Delhi and improve connectivity for thousands of commuters. Once completed, it will not only reduce travel time but also enhance the urban landscape of this high-density area.
