The flood crisis triggered by continuous heavy rains since Monday shows no signs of improvement in Surat. On Wednesday, June 25, floodwaters once again entered several parts of the city, including residential areas, leaving citizens in distress. Even after more than 24 hours, water levels have not receded, worsening the situation for many residents.
Heavy rainfall has caused the creek flowing from the district and through the city to overflow, leading to flooding in multiple areas such as Varachha, Limbayat, and Athwa zones. These areas remain waterlogged, with streets submerged and homes inundated.
On Tuesday, Municipal Commissioner Shalini Agarwal visited flood-affected areas including Rishi Vihar, Vraj Vihar, and Nandanvan Society to assess the damage. Despite the inspection, these areas remain flooded as of Wednesday, with conditions deteriorating further.
In Dindoli, another severely affected area, visuals showed residents wading through knee-deep water, while vehicles struggled to move. The non-stop rainfall has overwhelmed the city’s drainage system, raising concerns over public health, road safety, and damage to infrastructure.
