In the wake of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has condemned the violence and reassured the public that swift action is being taken to protect the people of the Union Territory, especially those residing outside the region.
Addressing the media, CM Omar Abdullah said, “It is regrettable that this attack took place and we ensured that whatever issues that were kept in front of us in the meeting, we will work on them.” He revealed that the matter was immediately taken up with the Union Home Minister to address security concerns and ensure appropriate measures are enforced.
“During this meeting, I spoke with the Union Home Minister and he assured me that all steps will be taken to ensure the safety of the people of J&K who are staying in other states,” the Chief Minister stated.
According to Abdullah, the Home Ministry is expected to issue an official advisory in the coming hours. He also confirmed that the Union Home Minister has already reached out to the Chief Ministers of several states, urging them to remain vigilant and take proactive steps to safeguard residents from Jammu and Kashmir.
“An advisory will be issued by the Home Ministry and the Union Minister also spoke with the Chief Ministers of many states,” Abdullah added.
The attack in Pahalgam has triggered strong security reactions at both the central and state levels, with intelligence and law enforcement agencies put on high alert. The nature of the attack and the identities of the perpetrators remain under investigation.
