Maharashtra Samajwadi Party President Abu Asim Azmi has raised serious concerns over alleged irregularities in the voter list, calling for an immediate and impartial investigation ahead of the upcoming state elections.
"Such big leaders have lost the elections in Maharashtra who didn't have any chance of losing," Azmi said, suggesting that unexpected defeats may be linked to errors in the electoral rolls. “We also have doubts that there is some error in the voter list.”
Azmi urged that any inquiry into the issue must be free of political interference. "A neutral investigation should happen without the pressure of any party or CM," he demanded, adding that voters’ trust in democracy must not be compromised.
He also pointed to recent developments in Bihar, where discrepancies in the electoral list have stirred political controversy. "In Bihar, many fake names have been found; those should be cancelled. Actions should be taken against those who have put their names on the list," Azmi said.
