In a unanimous show of confidence, former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was re-elected as the president of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) for the ninth consecutive term. The announcement was made during the party’s State Council meeting held at Sankha Bhawan, the party’s headquarters in Bhubaneswar.
Party leaders and members reaffirmed their faith in Patnaik’s leadership, electing him unopposed to the top post. His re-election comes at a crucial juncture as Odisha prepares for the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
Patnaik, who founded the BJD in 1997, has been its undisputed leader since its inception. Under his stewardship, the party has grown into a dominant political force in Odisha, winning five consecutive Assembly elections and commanding a significant presence in Parliament.
