Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and IT cell head Amit Malviya on Sunday dismissed a media report claiming the party plans to use Colonel Sofia Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh as the faces of an upcoming campaign. He termed the report published by the Times of India as “#FakeNews” and clarified that the party has no such plan in place.
“This is #FakeNews. The BJP has no plans to use either Col Sofia Qureshi or Wing Commander Vyomika Singh as campaign faces. The comments made by BJP Minority Morcha President Jamal Siddiqui have been misconstrued. He simply made a limited point about highlighting Col Qureshi as an example of an empowered Muslim woman within the community,” Malviya wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
The Times of India article, titled “Col Qureshi, Wg Cdr Vyomika set to be BJP campaign’s faces”, had claimed that the army officers who recently addressed the press during Operation Sindoor would be central figures in an upcoming women-centric BJP campaign to be launched on June 19, marking 11 years of the Modi-led government.
