Prateek Yadav, younger son of late Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and husband of BJP leader Aparna Yadav, passed away in Lucknow on Wednesday at the age of 38 after reportedly suffering a sudden medical emergency at his residence.

According to officials and family sources, Prateek was rushed to Civil Hospital in Lucknow during the early morning hours after his health deteriorated rapidly. Doctors at the hospital reportedly declared him dead on arrival.

The news triggered shock across political circles in Uttar Pradesh, with leaders from multiple parties expressing grief over his untimely demise. Akhilesh Yadav and Yogi Adityanath were among those who conveyed condolences to the family.

Police sources said Prateek had complained of discomfort late at night before his condition worsened. Family members and attendants reportedly attempted to arrange medical assistance immediately after noticing his deteriorating health.

According to preliminary information, Prateek was later found unconscious inside the residence and shifted to the hospital in the early hours of the morning.

A post-mortem examination was conducted at King George's Medical University by a panel of doctors. Officials stated that the process was videographed and that no immediate signs of foul play were detected in the initial findings. However, viscera samples have reportedly been preserved for further examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Sources familiar with the matter indicated that Prateek had been undergoing treatment for a pulmonary condition associated with a blood clot in the lungs. Reports also suggested he had been receiving treatment related to mental health concerns over the past few years.

At the time of the incident, Aparna Yadav was reportedly travelling outside Uttar Pradesh and returned to Lucknow after receiving news of her husband’s death.

The last rites are expected to be performed at Pipra Ghat on Thursday.

Despite belonging to one of Uttar Pradesh’s most influential political families, Prateek largely stayed away from active politics and maintained a low public profile. He was associated with business ventures, including the real estate sector, and was widely known in Lucknow for his passion for fitness and bodybuilding.

Prateek owned a fitness centre called “The Fitness Planet” and had built a reputation among fitness enthusiasts for promoting health and training activities in the city.

He married Aparna Yadav in 2012 after a long relationship. Aparna later entered electoral politics and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2022 after previously contesting elections on a Samajwadi Party ticket.
