Early Life and Education

Vipul Vashrambhai Suhagiya was born in 1982. He completed his 12th standard from TB High School in Badaran in the year 2000. Coming from a modest background, he grew up witnessing the everyday challenges of urban living, which shaped his inclination toward public service and local governance.

Political Career

In the 2021 Surat Municipal Corporation elections, Vipul Suhagiya was elected as the Corporator of Ward No. 17 (Puna East) under the banner of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). His victory reflected the growing presence of AAP in Gujarat’s civic politics, especially in urban areas like Surat.

વિસ્તારમાં ત્રણ નવી શાળાઓ મંજુર કરાવી જેમાંથી બે શાળાનું કામ શરૂ છે જે આવતા જુન મહિનાથી શરૂ થઈ જશે, વિસ્તારમાં એક માત્ર સરકારી શાળા હતી જે હજુ 2020 માં બની હતી જેમાં શિક્ષકોની ખુબ મોટી ઘટ હતી તે તમામ શિક્ષકોની ભર્તી કરાવી અત્યારે એક પણ શિક્ષક ની ઘટ નથી, શાળામાં કોઈ ભૌતિક સુવિધાઓ નહોતી આ શાળામાં રૂપિયા 1 કરોડ કરતા વધારેની ગ્રાન્ટ આપીને તમામ ભૌતિક સુવિધાઓ સાથે તમામ વર્ગખંડમાં બાળકોના અભ્યાસ માટે સ્માર્ટ પેનલ બોર્ડ સાથેની સુવિધાઓ ઉપલબ્ધ કરાવી અને વિસ્તારની સ્માર્ટ શાળા બનાવી

વિસ્તારમાં એક 50 બેડની હોસ્પિટલ મંજુર કરાવી જેનું ટુંક સમયમાં ખાતમુર્હુત કરવાનું છે

વિસ્તારના તમામ મુખ્ય રસ્તાઓને ACC રોડ બનાવીને રોડ રસ્તાનું નેટવર્ક મજબૂત અને લોકોનું પરિવહન સરળ બનાવ્યું

વિસ્તારમાં રાશન માફિયાઓને ખુબ ત્રાસ હતો, લોકોને પુરતુ અનાજ નહોતું મળતું ત્યાં વારંવાર રેડ કરીને લોકોને પોતાના હક્કનું પુરતું અનાજ અપાવવા રાશન માફીયાઓ સાથે લડ્યા અને વિસ્તારના ગરીબ અને મધ્યમવર્ગ ના લોકોને પુરતુ અનાજ મળી રહે

Contributions and Public Engagement

કોરોના સમયે યોગીચોક વિસ્તારમાં આખા ગુજરાતમાં બીજું આઇસોલેશન સેન્ટર શરૂ કરીને દોઢ મહિના સુધી કોરોના ગ્રસ્ત લોકોની સેવા કરીને 250 જેટલા દર્દીઓને સ્વસ્થ કરીને ઘરે મોકલ્યા

1. Improved Drainage Network: Pledged to push for long-term improvements in drainage systems to prevent seasonal waterlogging in Puna East.

2. Widening of Internal Roads: Committed to getting approvals for widening narrow internal streets that cause traffic bottlenecks during peak hours.

3. Solid Waste Management Reforms: Promised better garbage segregation facilities and more waste collection bins in public areas.

4. Senior Citizen Support Programs: Expressed interest in developing local centers for senior citizens offering medical camps and recreational facilities.

5. Better Transparency: Stated intentions to increase transparency in ward-level spending and tenders through monthly updates and community meetings.

Controversies and Legal Challenges

Vipul Suhagiya’s tenure has also been marked by controversy:

• In October 2023, he was arrested for allegedly slapping a hospital staff member at SMIMER Hospital during a heated exchange over delayed patient care. (Live Hindustan)

• In September 2024, he faced serious allegations in a bribery case involving a parking contractor. He was accused, along with another corporator, of demanding ₹10 lakh in exchange for not cancelling a contract. The case is under legal scrutiny, and his party has termed the arrest politically motivated. (Indian Express)
