'They Are Not Standing With The Nation': BJP Slams Congress For Skipping Operation Sindoor Debate And Backing Disruptions

In a scathing attack on the Congress party, senior BJP leaders Union Minister Piyush Goyal and MP Sambit Patra on Monday accused the opposition of abandoning national interests and obstructing a crucial debate on Operation Sindoor, India’s bold military action against terror networks in Pakistan and PoK.

Speaking to reporters outside Parliament, Union Minister Piyush Goyal expressed deep disappointment over the absence of key opposition figures, including Rahul Gandhi, during the much-anticipated Lok Sabha debate. "This is condemnable and very unfortunate. It reflects their negative mindset and shows they are not standing with the nation," Goyal said.

He further criticized senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram for his recent controversial remarks in which he appeared to cast doubt on the origins of the April 22 Pahalgam attack, suggesting the terrorists could be “homegrown.” Goyal stated, “We also saw P. Chidambaram’s statement, where he appeared to question the government and side with terrorists — this shows the mindset of Congress leaders.”

Echoing similar sentiments, BJP spokesperson and MP Sambit Patra lashed out at the opposition’s behavior in the House. “It’s a very unfortunate matter. Just think — the entire nation is sitting in front of their TVs, expecting a discussion on Operation Sindoor. People want to hear how this brave mission was carried out. But what did the Congress do? They tore papers, created chaos, and stopped the discussion,” Patra said.

He further added that the Congress party’s behavior in Parliament was being watched and judged by every citizen, and that their actions during such a sensitive debate clearly indicated their “discomfort with India’s victories.”

The Lok Sabha session was expected to focus on the strategic and political significance of Operation Sindoor, with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh slated to present the government’s detailed account of the mission. However, the opposition’s disruptive conduct led to repeated adjournments and a stall in proceedings.
