Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has embarked on a significant visit to four South American countries, where he is set to interact with political leaders, students, and business figures to strengthen India’s global outreach.

Announcing the trip, Congress media and publicity department in charge Pawan Khera said on X, “Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Shri Rahul Gandhi, has embarked on a visit to South America. He is scheduled to engage with political leaders, university students, and members of the business community across four countries.” However, the duration of Gandhi’s stay abroad has not been disclosed.

According to the Congress, Gandhi will visit Brazil and Colombia, where he is expected to hold detailed interactions with university students. He will also meet presidents and senior political leaders in multiple countries, aiming to deepen democratic and strategic ties.

The party said Gandhi’s discussions with business leaders will focus on new trade opportunities, especially as India explores diversification in the wake of recent US tariffs.

Calling the visit “historically significant,” the Congress highlighted the shared legacy between India and South America through the Non-Aligned Movement, solidarity within the Global South, and a vision for a multipolar world order.

The party added that Gandhi’s outreach seeks to continue this tradition while creating fresh avenues of cooperation in trade, technology, sustainability, and people-to-people exchanges. “It underscores the essential role of India’s democratic opposition in shaping international partnerships and advancing India’s global presence,” the Congress said.
