In a key move ahead of the monsoon, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and PWD Minister Parvesh Verma on Thursday visited critical flood-prone zones of the city, including the infamous Minto Bridge, which has long been a symbol of waterlogging woes in the capital.

Highlighting the government's preventive strategy, CM Gupta said, "We have come to Minto Bridge to inspect the area where a whole bus had got submerged due to waterlogging. To ensure that we don't witness a similar waterlogging situation and to find a timely solution, we have come here."

To counter future flooding, the Delhi government has installed advanced automatic pumps that activate as soon as water levels rise. These pumps will now be monitored by on-ground operators 24x7 during the rainy season.

"Pumps which switch on automatically when the water level rises have been installed here. Water pump operators will be deployed here for all 24 hours during the rainy season," she added.

PWD officials said additional measures are being rolled out to ensure that areas prone to flooding are regularly maintained and swiftly drained during rainfall. Minister Parvesh Verma emphasized that these inspections would continue across the city to ensure all key sites are rain-ready.
