As the seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha elections progresses, the Election Commission (EC) reported a voter turnout of 40.09 percent by 1 PM on Saturday. This phase sees polling in 57 constituencies across seven states and the Union Territory of Chandigarh, including the high-profile constituency of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is seeking a third consecutive term.
Polling is taking place in all 13 seats of Punjab and four of Himachal Pradesh, alongside 13 constituencies in Uttar Pradesh, nine in West Bengal, eight in Bihar, six in Odisha, and three in Jharkhand. Chandigarh is also participating in this final phase. Additionally, voters in Odisha are casting their ballots for the remaining 42 Assembly constituencies, while by-polls for six Assembly seats in Himachal Pradesh are being conducted simultaneously.
According to the EC's voter-turnout app, Jharkhand recorded the highest turnout among the states, with nearly 46.8 percent of voters casting their ballots by 1 PM. Himachal Pradesh followed with a turnout of 48.63 percent. Other notable figures include Uttar Pradesh at 39.31 percent, West Bengal at 45.07 percent, and Bihar at 35.65 percent.
