Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Savitri Thakur, has sparked controversy after a video surfaced online showing her misspelling the phrase 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao'. The incident occurred at a government school in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, during the Union Minister's visit to inaugurate the three-day Praveshotsav program.

In the video, Minister Thakur can be seen attempting to write 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' on a board, but struggling with the spelling of the slogan. The 46-year-old minister, who recently won the Dhar Lok Sabha seat in the general elections, defeating Congress' Radheshyam Muvel by over 218,000 votes, has since been subjected to widespread criticism.

The incident has not only drawn negative attention towards Savitri Thakur's spelling mishap but has also sparked a broader debate about the qualifications of elected officials. Thakur, who declared in her election affidavit that she passed her class 12 examination in 2018 from the Urdu Education Board, is now being scrutinized for her educational background.

Social media users have been vocal about their disapproval, with one user sarcastically suggesting, "She should have been the Union Education Minister. She has been given the wrong ministry." Another comment read, "The country is in the hands of such people. Whose fault is it? The fault lies with the educated people who voted for the leaders."

Further criticism included, "As far as I know, we voted on religion, not education. How can we then expect an educated minister?" These reactions underscore the frustration and disappointment among the public regarding the educational qualifications of their elected representatives.

Following the video?s circulation, Congress member Mukam Singh Alawa, a District Panchayat member, called the incident unfortunate, adding to the chorus of disapproval surrounding Thakur's gaffe.
