BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, linking his recent remarks to what he described as a long-standing Congress mindset that compromises national interest. Bidhuri alleged that the Congress leadership has historically failed the country on matters of national security and territorial integrity.

Reacting to Rahul Gandhi’s statement, Bidhuri said the Congress party’s approach towards sensitive national issues has remained unchanged over generations. He drew a direct comparison with former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, claiming that warnings about China’s expansion were ignored in the past, leading to territorial losses.

In a strongly worded response, Bidhuri said:  “This is in their DNA. Even their grandfather had said that when Sardar Patel warned that China was occupying our land, he dismissed it by saying that not even grass grows there, so why should we sacrifice our youth for it. As a result, thousands of square kilometres of land were handed over to China. This reflects their long-standing mindset, one of opposition and betrayal of national interests. Rahul Gandhi has not said anything new. This line of thinking has continued from his grandfather’s time itself.”

The BJP leader asserted that Rahul Gandhi’s statements are consistent with what he termed as Congress’s historical reluctance to take firm positions on national security. He accused the party of repeatedly undermining India’s strategic interests while positioning itself against decisive action.

The remarks come amid heightened political exchanges between the BJP and the Congress, especially over issues related to foreign policy, border security, and India’s stance towards neighbouring countries. BJP leaders have increasingly targeted Rahul Gandhi’s comments, portraying them as harmful to India’s global image.
