In a dramatic political development, Tej Pratap Yadav, former Bihar minister and eldest son of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, raised serious concerns on Monday about his personal safety, alleging that a conspiracy is being hatched against him from within his own party.
Speaking to the media in Patna, Tej Pratap said, “I am feeling insecure, and my life is in danger. My security should be increased. I will not back down from my stand. Those trying to ruin my life — even by exposing my personal life — will not be spared.”
Though he refrained from taking names, he pointed fingers at “four to five people sitting inside the RJD”, claiming they are actively working to sideline him politically and isolate him personally.
The statement came just hours after Lalu Prasad Yadav filed his nomination to remain RJD national president for the 13th consecutive time. Notably, Tej Pratap was visibly distanced from the celebratory atmosphere, underlining an ongoing family and party feud.
Despite his outburst, Tej Pratap offered public support to his younger brother and political rival, Tejashwi Yadav, saying, “May my father live a long life. I bless Tejashwi Yadav to go forward and become Bihar’s Chief Minister.”
The situation took a dramatic turn over the weekend following a controversial Facebook post from Tej Pratap’s verified account, which referenced a 12-year-long relationship with a woman named Anushka Yadav. Tej Pratap later disowned the post, claiming his account was hacked.
In response to the episode and what party sources call “repeated indiscipline,” Lalu Prasad Yadav has reportedly expelled Tej Pratap Yadav from the RJD and family circles for six years, citing irreparable damage to the party’s reputation.
Political observers believe this open conflict within the Yadav family and RJD’s top brass could seriously affect the party’s unity and electoral strategy ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
