Surat, one of India?s fastest-growing cities and a commercial powerhouse, is undergoing a major transformation as part of its station redevelopment project. The ?980 crore redevelopment, expected to be completed by December 2026, is being carried out by the Surat Integrated Transport Corporation (SITCO), a collaboration between Indian Railways and the Government of Gujarat.
The ambitious project will transform Surat station into a Multi-Modal Transport Hub (MMTH), integrating railway, city bus, metro, and BRTS systems for seamless connectivity. The station's design will reflect an international business center ambiance, enhancing the city?s global commercial standing.
Phase I of the redevelopment, which includes utility shifting work and the completion of the East-side railway station building, is progressing rapidly. Temporary shifts in train terminals may occur during this time, but the public has been urged to remain patient and cooperative.
Western Railway has expressed gratitude to passengers for their support during the redevelopment process and assures them that the improvements will provide long-term benefits to the city?s infrastructure and commuters.
