The Supreme Court on Thursday issued a notice to the Union government on a petition filed by former Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Subramanian Swamy. In his plea, Swamy sought directions to the Centre for a timely decision on his representation demanding that ‘Ram Setu’ be declared a national monument and recognized as a site of national importance.
The bench observed that the matter requires the government’s stand and directed the Centre to respond to Swamy’s plea. Dr. Swamy has long argued that Ram Setu, also known as Adam’s Bridge, holds immense historical, cultural, and religious significance for millions of Hindus.
