In a setback to Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan’s son, Abdullah Azam Khan, the Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed his plea challenging criminal proceedings in two cases linked to alleged document forgery for obtaining fake passports.
A bench comprising Justices M.M. Sundresh and Satish Chandra Sharma heard brief arguments before refusing to interfere with the Allahabad High Court’s earlier decision that had rejected Abdullah Azam Khan’s challenge.
The cases pertain to allegations that Abdullah used forged documents to acquire multiple passports, leading to criminal proceedings against him. The Supreme Court’s decision effectively clears the way for trial proceedings to continue in the lower court.
