Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut has launched a scathing attack on the Maharashtra government, accusing the state of negligence in providing adequate healthcare services, particularly in the tribal district of Gadchiroli. His criticism comes in response to a harrowing incident where the parents of two deceased children were forced to carry their bodies on their shoulders for 15 kilometers due to the unavailability of an ambulance. The viral photo of the parents walking through mud with their children?s bodies has sparked widespread outrage.
In an editorial published in Shiv Sena's mouthpiece Samana, Raut expressed deep concern over the deteriorating state of healthcare in Maharashtra, linking it to the government?s alleged mismanagement of resources. He remarked, ?How the state of Maharashtra has started to decline, it is now becoming apparent every day. Doesn't this picture of Maharashtra distract the Chief Minister and his gang?"
The MP was particularly critical of the state?s recently launched Ladki Bahin Yojana, under which ?1,500 is deposited monthly into the accounts of women. Raut stated that while the scheme was designed to win votes, it came at the expense of crucial sectors like health and education. He added, "By diverting all the funds of the indebted state to the 'Ladki' scheme, the government strangled the education, health department and this picture is terrible."
Further emphasizing the government's failure, Raut said, ?The two siblings who arrived recently developed fever. There was no treatment in the government health system. As a result, both the children died? Doesn't this picture of Maharashtra distract the Chief Minister and his gang?" He also questioned the role of the state's health minister and called for his immediate dismissal, citing repeated failures, including the death of 21 newborns in a government hospital in Thane last year.
Raut concluded by criticizing the state?s leadership for their indifference, stating that the ruling class is too preoccupied with political gains to address the basic needs of its people. ?In Vidarbha's Gadchiroli, parents are leaving with the dead bodies of their children on their shoulders, while a BJP MLA from Vidarbha is seen dancing unconsciously? In a state where so many hateful people are in power, the lives of innocents become like insects and ants," Raut lamented.
This controversy has further intensified the political discourse in Maharashtra, especially as the state prepares for upcoming elections.
