Former Congress president and senior party leader Rahul Gandhi is set to announce his decision on Monday regarding the Lok Sabha constituency he intends to retain for the upcoming term. Gandhi, who emerged victorious in both Wayanad, Kerala, and Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, in the recent general elections, currently holds memberships in both constituencies.
Speculations abound as to whether Gandhi will opt to continue representing Wayanad, where he secured re-election as the incumbent Member of Parliament, or Raebareli, the long-standing bastion of the Gandhi family in Uttar Pradesh. Raebareli was previously represented by his mother, Sonia Gandhi, who opted not to contest this time and instead became a Rajya Sabha member.
Congress sources have indicated that Gandhi will make his announcement on Monday, clarifying his choice amid considerable anticipation within political circles and among his constituents in both regions.
In the 2019 general elections, Rahul Gandhi won Wayanad with a significant majority, reaffirming his standing in the southern state of Kerala. Meanwhile, in Raebareli, he also secured a decisive victory, continuing the Gandhi family legacy in Uttar Pradesh politics.
