During the 'Voter Adhikar Yatra', Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi delivered a scathing critique of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, corporate giants, and media establishments, claiming that marginalized communities are systematically excluded from power and resources.
Speaking to the crowd, Gandhi said, “Trump said today that when the war between India and Pakistan was going on, I picked up the phone and told Narendra Modi to stop whatever he was doing within 24 hours. And Narendra Modi stopped everything in five hours, not 24 hours. The media belongs to Narendra Modi, Ambani, and Adani. The media is not of Tejashwi or Stalin, tribals, Dalits, or backward classes. Among Adani, Ambani, Tata, and Birla, tell me who is Dalit, tribal, or backward. Look at the judiciary also. There are no tribals, Dalits, or backwards. Give me the list of owners of private hospitals, educational institutions, universities, and colleges—you will not get any Dalit there. Ninety percent of the people are not included. They steal votes because they know that the day your voice is heard, India will change completely. That is why I told Narendra Modi face-to-face that the caste census will happen in India and the truth will come out.”
Gandhi’s remarks focused on alleged systemic biases in politics, corporate ownership, media influence, and access to institutions. He emphasized the need for a caste census to bring transparency and ensure the inclusion of historically marginalized communities in governance and policy-making.
