The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Pune Police has taken a major step in the controversial Mundhwa land case by filing a detailed chargesheet running into 1,886 pages. The case revolves around the alleged illegal sale of a 40-acre land parcel located in one of Pune’s premium localities.
According to investigators, the land in question is owned by the Maharashtra government and was not legally eligible for private sale. Despite this, the chargesheet claims that Sheetal Tejwani, who was acting as the power of attorney holder for multiple original landholders, went ahead and executed a sale deed in favour of a private firm, Amadia Enterprises LLP.
Police allege that Tejwani was fully aware of the government ownership status of the land at the time of the transaction. The sale deal, reportedly valued at around ₹300 crore, has raised serious questions about due diligence and possible misuse of authority.
The chargesheet names Tejwani along with Digvijay Amarsingh Patil, a partner in Amadia Enterprises, and Suryakant Yewale, a tehsildar who has since been suspended. While Parth Pawar, son of late Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, is listed as a partner in the LLP, his name does not appear in the First Information Report (FIR).
Investigators have also flagged alleged financial irregularities linked to the transaction. The firm is suspected to have received an exemption of nearly ₹21 crore in stamp duty, which is now under scrutiny by the authorities.
Meanwhile, Pune Police have clarified that the probe is still ongoing. Officials indicated that additional findings could lead to the filing of a supplementary chargesheet in the coming weeks.
