Amid widespread waterlogging and traffic disruptions triggered by intense pre-monsoon showers in Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday acknowledged the city's long-standing infrastructural challenges while assuring citizens that a coordinated, "triple engine" government was actively working to fix the problems.

"The government and administration were on constant alert since 5 am. All DCs, officials were standing on the roads," said CM Gupta, speaking during a civic program. She noted her own firsthand experience of the chaos: “While coming to this program, I saw three points where there was waterlogging and traffic jam.”

Highlighting the need for urgent systemic reform, she added, “This is triple engine government, where today the Centre, Delhi and our local bodies are standing together as a team to work with great enthusiasm to improve the messed-up system of Delhi.”

Calling the unexpected downpour an early warning for the city’s preparedness, Gupta remarked, “I want to thank God that this rain, which has come today before the monsoon, is an alarm for the entire system.”

The Delhi government has faced criticism over persistent urban flooding and traffic gridlocks during heavy rains, despite repeated promises of drainage overhauls. However, Gupta assured that unlike previous administrations, her government is not only acknowledging the issues but also proactively tackling them.
