Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday visited the Adampur Air Force Station in Punjab, where he interacted with Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel and was briefed on the recently concluded Operation Sindoor, a high-stakes military response targeting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Describing the experience as “very special,” PM Modi praised the courage and dedication of the air warriors who played a central role in the mission. “Earlier this morning, I went to Air Force Station Adampur and met our brave air warriors and soldiers. It was a very special experience to be with those who epitomise courage, determination and fearlessness. India is eternally grateful to our armed forces for everything they do for our nation,” the Prime Minister posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Adampur Air Base: The Nerve Centre of Operation Sindoor

The visit comes just days after India and Pakistan reached a ceasefire agreement following Operation Sindoor, a targeted counter-terrorism strike carried out in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. As part of the operation, the Indian Armed Forces struck nine terror camps across the border in a swift and calculated move.

Adampur Air Base, one of the IAF’s strategic stations, played a pivotal role in coordinating and executing the air strikes. Despite being targeted by Pakistani missiles and drones during the night of May 9 and 10, the base’s air defence systems successfully intercepted the threat without suffering any damage.

“Our Fight Is with Terrorists, Not Civilians”: IAF Clarifies Intent

Addressing a press briefing on Monday, Director General of Air Operations, Air Marshal AK Bharti, clarified the objectives of the mission. “Our fight is with the terrorists. Our fight is not with the Pakistan Military or Pakistan civilians. That is very clear. We are very precise in our targeting,” he said.

The Air Marshal underscored the precision and preparedness of the Indian Armed Forces, stating that the strikes were not only successful but also highlighted India’s growing indigenous capabilities.

“Our counter systems and trained air defence operators are fully capable. No matter what kind of technology is used against us, we are ready. You’ve seen with your own eyes the consequences we have delivered,” he added, pointing to the effective neutralization of threats during the mission.

National Pride and Tactical Precision

Operation Sindoor has been hailed as a tactical success by defence experts, not just for its results, but for its disciplined focus on terror infrastructure without civilian casualties. PM Modi’s visit served as both a morale booster and a signal of the government’s unwavering support for the armed forces.
