Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set for a historic five-nation tour from July 2 to 9, aimed at deepening India’s global partnerships and enhancing its diplomatic footprint across Africa and Latin America.
The visit begins on July 2 in Ghana — Modi’s first-ever bilateral trip to the country and the first by an Indian Prime Minister in over three decades. Discussions with Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo will focus on expanding cooperation in defence, energy, trade, and development projects, while also strengthening ties with ECOWAS and the African Union.
From July 3–4, Modi will travel to Trinidad and Tobago at the invitation of Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar. His visit, the first at the prime ministerial level since 1999, will feature talks with President Christine Carla Kangaloo and an address to a Joint Session of Parliament. The trip is expected to inject new momentum into the longstanding bonds rooted in history and shared culture.
On July 4–5, PM Modi will visit Argentina for talks with President Javier Milei, aiming to explore fresh avenues for cooperation in mining, agriculture, renewable energy, defence, and technology. Strengthening economic links and expanding trade will top the agenda.
Next, from July 5–8, Modi will be in Brazil to participate in the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, followed by a state visit in Brasilia. Leaders will deliberate on critical global issues, including UN reform, artificial intelligence, sustainable development, global health, and peace. Modi will also hold bilateral discussions with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to bolster strategic ties in sectors such as defence, space, energy, agriculture, and technology.
Finally, on July 9, Modi will make a historic stop in Namibia — the first by an Indian Prime Minister since 1995. He will meet President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and pay tribute to Namibia’s Founding Father, Dr Sam Nujoma. Talks will cover bilateral collaboration in trade, education, and renewable energy.
