Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a large rally in Uttar Pradesh's Basti today (May 22) as part of his campaign for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Modi will also address public meetings in Shravasti and Delhi's Dwarka on Wednesday.
In Basti, PM Modi took aim at the leaders of Congress and the Samajwadi Party (SP), mocking their claims of winning 79 seats in Uttar Pradesh. "Both the 'shehzadas' of Congress and SP are spreading rumours that they will win 79 seats of Uttar Pradesh. Earlier, I used to hear that people used to daydream, but now I understand what it means to daydream. On June 4, the people of UP will awake them and then they will blame EVM."
PM Modi also commented on the state of Pakistan, describing it as a "terrorist country" that used to threaten India but is now in a dire situation. "The situation of terrorist country Pakistan, that used to threaten us, is now 'na ghar ka na ghat ka'. Pakistan is devastated but its well-wishers, Congress and Samajwadi Party, are now trying to intimidate India. They say that we should be afraid of Pakistan," he said.
Highlighting the trust and support he has received from the people of Siddharthnagar and Domariyaganj, Modi said, "Siddharthnagar and Domariyaganj have always trusted me, BJP, our work, vision, and promises. That's why I never have and never will leave any stone unturned in keeping this trust."
Here are some key quotes from PM Modi's speech:
- "The respect of India has grown in the world because when it speaks the world listens."
- "Those who will vote will get the 'punya' of good works I will do."
- "The first five phases of elections have ensured a third term for Modi Sarkar."
- "Whenever you got some virtuous work to do, should you lose that opportunity? If you don't cast your vote, will you get the virtue? If 80 crore people are getting free rations, don't they bless? But if you hadn't voted, would that virtue be counted as yours? I am going to do such good works that those who will vote will get the virtue for sure."
