The Punjab government’s One Time Settlement (OTS) scheme for property tax is set to end on August 31, but a massive ₹580 crore still remains unpaid. Official data shows that nearly 35,000 major property owners have not cleared their dues, with around ₹200 crore pending from big commercial establishments across the state’s 13 municipal corporations.

In total, dues from over 1.1 lakh properties remain unsettled despite repeated reminders. To facilitate last-minute payments, the government has announced that Suvidha Kendras will remain open on August 30 and 31, allowing citizens to clear their taxes under the OTS scheme.

The government has issued a stern warning that strict legal and administrative action will follow against defaulters who fail to take advantage of the scheme before the deadline. Municipal officials have been instructed to prepare lists of chronic defaulters, especially large commercial units, for potential recovery drives once the window closes.
