Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday declared that Operation Sindoor has unambiguously exposed Pakistan’s direct involvement in sponsoring terrorism in India, as he addressed the 22nd investiture ceremony of the Border Security Force (BSF) during the Rustamji Memorial Lecture in New Delhi.

“Operation Sindoor has exposed that terrorism in India is absolutely Pakistan sponsored,” Shah stated, lauding the armed forces for their precision and restraint during the operation.

The Home Minister recounted the sequence of events that led to the recent military confrontation, beginning with the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 innocent people. “In Pahalgam, innocent tourists were killed after asking about their religion. Operation Sindoor was the reply to it. The world is appreciating us for this. I salute the Army,” Shah said.

India launched precision air strikes on May 7, targeting nine terrorist camps across the Line of Control. “It is important to note that we didn't target Pakistan Army installations, civilians, or air bases. We specifically hit the terrorist infrastructure,” Shah added.

He emphasized that Pakistan's reaction—attempting to strike Indian military and civilian targets—served as proof that the terror infrastructure destroyed was backed by the Pakistani state. “Pakistan, considering the attack on terrorists as an attack on itself, proved it sponsors terrorism,” he said.

Shah detailed how Pakistan attempted to retaliate on May 8, 9, and 10, targeting Indian military bases. However, India’s air defence systems neutralized the threats, and Indian forces responded with counter-attacks on Pakistani air bases, demonstrating their readiness and striking capabilities.

The four-day exchange ended with a ceasefire understanding on May 10, following intense cross-border drone and missile strikes.

Highlighting India’s bold new posture since 2014, Shah recalled: “We did a surgical strike after the Uri attack, then an air strike after Pulwama. Now, Operation Sindoor is our latest message: India will no longer remain silent.”

Praising the BSF’s role, Shah said the force “has proved its mettle” and is “a great example of how patriotism can overcome all odds to make the world’s best security force.”
