The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday launched a fresh attack on Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, questioning his frequent visits to Vietnam and other foreign countries without public disclosure. The party accused the Leader of the Opposition of evading parliamentary responsibilities and raised concerns about "national security."

At a press briefing, BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad took a jibe at Gandhi, saying, "New Year's in Vietnam, Holi too in Vietnam? I have been told he has given 22 days' time in Vietnam. He hasn't even spent that much time in his own constituency, Rae Bareli."

BJP’s IT cell head Amit Malviya also raised concerns over Gandhi’s travel, alleging a pattern of secrecy surrounding his visits. "As the Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi holds a crucial position, and his numerous clandestine trips abroad, especially while Parliament is in session, raise serious questions about propriety and national security," Malviya posted on X.

Gandhi’s recent visit to Vietnam comes at a time when Parliament is in the middle of the Budget Session. The trip also follows his departure for Vietnam in December, during the seven-day mourning period after the death of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Criticizing Gandhi’s timing, Malviya had earlier remarked, "Rahul Gandhi politicised and exploited Dr. Singh's death for his expedient politics, but his contempt for him is unmissable."

The BJP also questioned why Gandhi frequently travels to Vietnam, with Prasad calling it a "curious and extraordinary fondness" for the Southeast Asian nation.
