With the culmination of voting in the 18th Lok Sabha elections, attention now turns to the eagerly anticipated exit poll results. According to the Republic-PMarq exit poll, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is poised to secure a significant victory in Uttar Pradesh, winning 69 seats out of the total 80. In contrast, the Opposition INDIA bloc is projected to secure 8 seats.

Uttar Pradesh emerged as a crucial battleground, being one of the three states that participated in all seven phases of the general elections, alongside Bihar and West Bengal. The state witnessed vigorous campaigning by major leaders from every party. Prime Minister Narendra Modi contested from the Varanasi constituency for the third consecutive time, while Congress leader Rahul Gandhi made his electoral debut from his family stronghold of Rae Bareli. Samajwadi Party (SP) chief and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav contested from Kannauj, with his wife Dimple fielded from the family bastion of Mainpuri, previously represented by SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav. Bollywood actor Hema Malini, the incumbent representative of the Mathura constituency since 2014, is also in the electoral fray.
