In a significant development in the ongoing National Herald money laundering case, Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Thursday issued notices to Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, along with other accused, following the filing of a chargesheet by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
The court has sought their responses on the ED's chargesheet, which outlines allegations linked to financial irregularities in the acquisition and management of Associated Journals Limited (AJL), the company behind the now-defunct National Herald newspaper.
The Enforcement Directorate's investigation stems from a probe into alleged misappropriation of assets worth over ₹800 crore. The ED has accused the Gandhis and other Congress functionaries of being involved in a "criminal conspiracy to acquire properties through unfair means."
