The ambitious Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project is witnessing rapid construction progress at its Mumbai terminal in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Saturday after a detailed site inspection.

Speaking to the media, Vaishnaw remarked, "The work is going on at a rapid speed. The work on the lowest basement—B3—is going on. The work for building the walls of the station has started. The work on the tunnel is also underway."

He further elaborated on the station's multi-level design, highlighting its modern infrastructure aimed at passenger convenience and operational efficiency. "A multi-storeyed building will be built over the station. On B3, cars will be parked, on B2, operational work will be done and on B1 and Ground level, passengers will enter the station. A world-class station is being built here," the minister said.

The Mumbai Bullet Train Station is one of the key nodes in India’s first high-speed rail corridor, being implemented by the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) with Japanese technical and financial assistance. Once completed, the corridor will reduce travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad to just around two hours.

Railways officials accompanying the minister said that a significant portion of the underground tunnelling work has already begun, with the aim to meet the targeted 2028 deadline for operations.
