At the 48th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), Chairman Mukesh Ambani announced two groundbreaking partnerships with global tech giants Meta and Google Cloud, setting the stage for India’s next big leap in artificial intelligence.
Ambani declared that Reliance, through these alliances, would democratise AI for every Indian enterprise, from small businesses to large corporates, enabling them to innovate, cut costs, and compete globally.
Reliance–Meta Joint Venture
Reliance and Meta have signed a joint venture worth approximately ₹855 crore (US$100 million), with Reliance holding 70% and Meta 30%. The JV will build enterprise-grade AI solutions powered by Meta’s open-source Llama models, designed for sectors like sales, finance, IT, customer service, and marketing.
The collaboration promises secure and scalable AI Platform-as-a-Service, offering cloud, on-premises, or Reliance infrastructure deployment — all at affordable costs. The deal is awaiting regulatory clearance and is expected to close in Q4 2025.
Ambani said: “Partnering with Meta brings our vision of providing AI to every Indian and enterprise to life… We will democratise enterprise-grade AI, enabling SMBs and corporates alike to innovate faster and compete confidently on the global stage.”
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg echoed the sentiment: “We’re excited to deepen our partnership with Reliance to bring the power of open-source AI to Indian developers and enterprises. This joint venture will put Llama models into real-world use and expand Meta’s footprint in the enterprise space.”
Reliance–Google Cloud Partnership
Alongside the Meta venture, Reliance expanded its strategic alliance with Google Cloud, announcing a dedicated AI-first cloud region in Jamnagar. The facility will integrate Google Cloud’s advanced AI compute systems and generative AI stack with Reliance’s infrastructure, Jio’s telecom network, and renewable energy projects.
This cloud hub will serve enterprises, startups, public institutions, and developers, ensuring sustainable AI innovation powered by Reliance’s green energy and connected nationwide through Jio’s fiber backbone.
Ambani stressed: “By bringing Google Cloud’s AI capabilities to Jamnagar, supported by our infrastructure and energy leadership, we are laying the foundation for India to become a global AI powerhouse. Just as Jio and Google democratized internet access, we will now democratize intelligence.”
Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai praised the collaboration: “Our decade-long partnership with Reliance has already transformed internet access in India. Now, with AI, we’re ready to shape the next leap together. This is just the beginning.”
