After waiting for more than a decade, the residents, law-enforcing agencies, and judicial fraternity of the twin-city finally witnessed the inauguration of the long-awaited Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) and Civil Judge (Junior Division) Court in Mira Road on International Women’s Day (March 8).
This new court is expected to significantly ease the burden on the Thane court, which currently handles nearly 50% of the cases related to the twin-city. The establishment of this judicial facility will ensure faster legal proceedings for thousands of litigants in Mira-Bhayandar.
The proposal for setting up the court was first approved in 2013, and despite multiple delays, the structure was completed after seven years. It took an additional three years to finalize the interiors, furniture, and other infrastructure work. The court has been built on a 4,353-square-meter plot in Hatkesh, Mira Road, specifically reserved for judicial purposes.
