Five months after Harshwardhan Sapkal took over as the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) chief, the state unit of the Congress has finally announced its new full-strength committee, comprising a massive 387 members. This move marks a major organisational overhaul ahead of the upcoming elections in the state.
The newly appointed team includes a 36-member political affairs committee, 16 senior vice presidents, 38 vice presidents, five senior spokespersons, 108 general secretaries, 95 secretaries, and 87 executive committee members. The political affairs committee will be headed by All India Congress Committee (AICC) Maharashtra in-charge Ramesh Chennithala, under whose guidance the reshuffle has taken place.

A notable inclusion is that of Dheeraj Deshmukh—former MLA and son of late chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh—who has been appointed as a senior spokesperson for the first time, signalling the party’s attempt to infuse fresh energy with familiar faces.
Former chief ministers Sushilkumar Shinde and Prithviraj Chavan, along with Mumbai Congress president and Lok Sabha MP Varsha Gaikwad, Rajya Sabha MPs Rajni Patil and Imran Pratapgarhi, and former state unit chiefs Nana Patole and Manikrao Thakare, have been included as members of the key political affairs committee.
The committee also includes presidents of 13 district Congress units, reflecting an effort to decentralise leadership and ensure grassroots representation in strategic decision-making.
