However, the BJP swiftly reacted to this order, taking aim at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. They portrayed her as acting out of fear, suggesting that her political influence in the Kolkata region might be waning. The BJP interpreted this move as Mamata Banerjee's attempt to assert control by relying on the Kolkata Police.
