India has officially secured the hosting rights for the 2030 Commonwealth Games, with Ahmedabad set to welcome athletes and fans from across the globe. The announcement, confirmed by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, has been hailed as a historic achievement for both India and Gujarat.

"India will host the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad – a proud moment for Bharat and Gujarat. It is a testament to PM Narendra Modi’s vision of world-class infrastructure and nurturing sporting talent," Jaishankar wrote on X.

The Executive Board of Commonwealth Sport had recommended Ahmedabad as the proposed host city on October 15, following a rigorous evaluation by the Commonwealth Sport Evaluation Committee. The official confirmation is expected during the General Assembly in Glasgow on November 26. The 2030 Games will also mark the centenary of the inaugural Commonwealth Games held in Hamilton, Canada, in 1930.

Home Minister Amit Shah expressed his excitement, calling the recommendation "a day of immense joy and pride for India." He added, "This is a grand endorsement of PM Modi’s relentless efforts to place India on the world sports map. With world-class infrastructure and a nationwide pool of sporting talent, India is now a marvel among global sports destinations."

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also celebrated the news, stating, "A proud moment for Gujarat and India! Ahmedabad has been recommended as the proposed host city for the 2030 Centenary Commonwealth Games. This historic milestone brings us closer to realizing our vision of making Ahmedabad the Sporting Capital of India."
