India Backs Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan As Hamas Agrees To Release Israeli Hostages

India has expressed strong support for US President Donald Trump’s leadership amid significant progress in peace negotiations in Gaza. Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed indications that Hamas is set to release Israeli hostages, calling it a major step toward stability.

In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi said, “India will continue to strongly support all efforts towards a durable and just peace.” His remarks came after Hamas announced on Friday that it had agreed to release all Israeli hostages under the framework proposed by Trump.

Hamas’s announcement marked a crucial development in the long-standing conflict. While the group committed to freeing all hostages, dead or alive, it clarified that some aspects of Trump’s plan still require further negotiation. Hamas expressed willingness to “immediately engage in negotiations through mediators” to finalize the details.

Additionally, Hamas indicated readiness to reform Gaza’s governance by transferring authority to a body of Palestinian “independent technocrats” as part of a transitional structure. The group publicly thanked President Trump, alongside Arab, Islamic, and international partners, for facilitating the peace process.

In response, Trump called on Israel to halt its bombing campaign in Gaza, emphasizing that negotiations and a ceasefire must go hand in hand. “Based on the Statement just issued by Hamas, I believe they are ready for a lasting PEACE. Israel must immediately stop the bombing of Gaza, so that we can get the Hostages out safely and quickly! Right now, it’s far too dangerous to do that,” he posted on Truth Social.

Earlier, Trump had set a Sunday evening deadline for Hamas to accept his peace plan, warning that “all hell will break out” if the group failed to comply. The plan, described by Trump as Hamas’s “last chance” to end hostilities, includes a 20-point framework outlining the future governance of Gaza.
