Amid swirling speculation over a leadership tussle and the recent Delhi visit by several Congress MLAs and ministers reportedly seeking a change at the top, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday firmly asserted that he will continue as the state’s leader and present the budget for the remainder of the government’s term.

Speaking to reporters at Mandakalli Airport in Mysuru, Siddaramaiah addressed queries on the ongoing leadership debate within the Congress-led state government. “Yes, I will continue as Chief Minister and I will also present the budget,” he said when asked about his role in the upcoming financial session.

The Chief Minister also confirmed that he will meet Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday, following Kharge’s visit to Bengaluru. “Whatever the high command decides, we will follow. MLAs, ministers, and I — everyone must abide by their decisions,” Siddaramaiah emphasized.

Responding to questions about the Delhi trips of Congress legislators and ministers, Siddaramaiah maintained a calm stance. “Is there any rule that they should not go to Delhi?” he asked, reinforcing that such visits do not undermine the state leadership.

On speculations surrounding power-sharing arrangements, including comments by former MP D.K. Suresh, Siddaramaiah clarified, “I will not go back on my words. I have implemented all the guarantee schemes. Matters like leadership or Cabinet reshuffle will be decided only by the high command.”
