In a powerful address to the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi responded to the debate on the motion of thanks to President Droupadi Murmu's speech, emphasizing the President's call for a "Viksit Bharat" (Developed India) and how it will inspire the common man. PM Modi, without directly naming any opposition leaders, took sharp jabs at the previous governments, highlighting their failures and contrasting them with the current government's achievements.

The Prime Minister began by stressing that his government operates with the spirit of the Constitution, distancing themselves from what he described as "politics of poison" practiced by some leaders. In his address, he also remarked on the hypocrisy of leaders who pose for photo sessions in rural huts, mocking them by saying, "Those who do photo sessions in huts will find talk about the poor boring."

In his scathing attack on previous leadership, PM Modi referred to a Prime Minister who had previously claimed to be focused on the "21st century" but failed to address the needs of the previous century. He contrasted this with his own government, which he said saved significant resources and did not waste them on building palatial homes, as alleged in the controversy surrounding the 'Sheesh Mahal.'

Touching on government initiatives, Modi highlighted how they were able to save substantial amounts through efficient schemes, asserting that "We did not use it to build Sheesh Mahal."

PM Modi also took a dig at former leaders who projected themselves as paragons of cleanliness, only to admit that when a rupee was sent from Delhi, only 15 paise reached the people.

The Prime Minister continued to address the criticisms raised on social media, remarking, "Talk on social media about leaders focused on jacuzzi, stylish showers, but our focus is on providing water to every home."

On political appointments, he noted that earlier Prime Ministers made appointments of Chief Election Commissioners at their discretion. His government, he said, brought in laws to involve the Leader of the Opposition in such decisions.

PM Modi also pointed out the discrepancy between the opposition's rhetoric and their actions, claiming, "Some leaders speak the language of urban naxals and talk about waging war against the Indian state."

Furthermore, he accused the opposition of neglecting the struggles faced by Muslim women in India, remarking, "Those who live with the Constitution in their pockets forget how they pushed Muslim women into hardships."

Finally, he attacked those who, according to him, engage in foreign policy discussions irresponsibly at the cost of the nation's unity, saying, "Some people feel they are not mature enough if they don't talk about foreign policy, even at the cost of the nation."

With these remarks, PM Modi set the tone for the next phase of India's political discourse, while underscoring his government's commitment to building a developed nation, free of the "poisonous" politics of previous times.
