In a strong move against online activities aimed at undermining national security, Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi announced that the state police have registered FIRs against four individuals from different areas of Gujarat for allegedly attempting to demoralise the armed forces through their social media posts.
“Yesterday, the Gujarat Police registered an FIR against four individuals in different areas for attempting to demoralize the country's armed forces through social media,” Sanghavi stated.
According to the Home Minister, the Gujarat Police acted swiftly after receiving intelligence inputs regarding anti-national content being circulated online. “The Gujarat Police received information about any anti-national posts on social media, and immediate action is being taken against such individuals,” he added.
The individuals in question have been charged under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act. Cyber cells and local police units coordinated to track the origin of the content and identify those responsible.
