Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has vacated his official residence and moved to a private farmhouse in South Delhi’s Chhatarpur, according to sources. The farmhouse, located in Gadaipur, belongs to INLD leader Abhay Chautala.

Dhankhar will later shift to a Type-8 bungalow, the category of accommodation allotted to former Vice Presidents. However, the government residence is still under renovation and will take some time before he can move in.

A day earlier, Dhankhar had applied to restart his pension as a former MLA of Rajasthan. He served as the Congress legislator from Kishangarh between 1993 and 1998. His pension had been stopped in 2019 when he was appointed as the Governor of West Bengal.

Dhankhar’s sudden resignation on July 21 citing health issues shocked leaders across political parties. In his letter to President Droupadi Murmu, he said he was stepping down due to deteriorating health. However, opposition leaders alleged that he quit under BJP pressure.

Questions about his absence from the public eye also triggered controversy. Leaders like Kapil Sibal and Sanjay Raut even wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah seeking clarity about Dhankhar’s condition and location. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi too questioned why he had gone “completely silent.”
