Rishiraj Sawant, son of former Maharashtra Health Minister and Shiv Sena deputy leader Tanaji Sawant, has returned to Pune after briefly disappearing under mysterious circumstances. Authorities confirmed that he was en route to Bangkok on a private plane but was contacted mid-air near Chennai, leading to his return.

Pune Joint Commissioner Ranjan Kumar Sharma, alongside Tanaji Sawant, stated that Rishiraj left for Bangkok without informing his family. The Pune Police registered a missing person complaint after a distress call reported that he had been taken away by an unidentified person.

"Upon investigation, we found that Rishiraj had voluntarily boarded a private plane with two friends. His family was unaware of his travel plans," Sharma said. Following police intervention, the aircraft returned to Pune.

Tanaji Sawant expressed shock over his son’s actions. "He left without informing anyone. The driver only mentioned he had gone to the airport. There was no family dispute, so we were extremely worried," he said.

Authorities are now probing the reasons behind Rishiraj’s sudden travel plans and why he kept them hidden from his family. "We need to understand the intent behind his trip. Since a missing complaint was filed, we will be questioning him further," Sharma added.

The Pune Police had coordinated with multiple agencies to track his movements before securing his safe return. The investigation will now focus on the circumstances surrounding his disappearance and the purpose of his international travel.
