Dharmesh Bhanderi was born around 1984. His formal education ended at the 9th grade, which he completed at Shri Krishna Pranami Public School in Karnal. Further education is not documented. He comes from a modest, working-class background and has built his political career from the ground up.

Political Career

Dharmesh Bhanderi entered politics through the Aam Aadmi Party and contested the 2021 Surat Municipal Corporation elections. He won from the Puna (East) (Ward 17) and soon after was appointed Leader of Opposition in the SMC. In this role, he became a vocal critic of the ruling party, especially on issues of civic transparency, corruption, and administrative inefficiencies. His leadership was marked by bold stands in public forums, frequent media presence, and community engagement.

• A total of ₹82,36,144.91 was drawn from Surat Municipal Corporation’s general development fund.

• ₹20,07,655.09 was used from his personal corporator grant.

• ₹46,81,664.09 was utilized from the corporator panel fund.
