‘Delivery CM’ Jibe: Akhilesh Yadav Targets UP Govt Over LPG Row

Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav on Friday took a sharp dig at Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya over the ongoing debate around LPG availability, suggesting he should become a “Delivery Chief Minister” instead.

The remark came after Maurya responded to concerns raised by the SP chief regarding the LPG situation, stating that if anyone is facing a shortage of cylinders, they should inform the government and supplies would be arranged for them. Reacting to this, Akhilesh Yadav mocked the statement, saying that in the current scenario, leaders should take on the role of delivery personnel to meet public needs.

Yadav further intensified his criticism by claiming that people across Uttar Pradesh are still facing difficulties in accessing LPG cylinders, with long queues being seen at both the beginning and end of the month. He questioned the government’s repeated claims that there is no shortage, arguing that the ground reality tells a different story.

Continuing his attack, the SP leader alleged that the government might soon shift the blame onto citizens by suggesting reduced consumption, raising concerns about the administration’s approach to handling essential supplies.

Meanwhile, the government has strongly denied any shortage of LPG or petroleum products in the country. Officials have maintained that the supply situation remains stable and fully under control, and have urged citizens not to fall for misinformation or panic-driven rumours being spread deliberately.

Apart from the LPG issue, Akhilesh Yadav also commented on allegations raised by BJP MLC Devendra Pratap Singh regarding police irregularities in Uttar Pradesh’s Sultanpur. He claimed that such issues are not new in the state and alleged that serious concerns exist regarding law enforcement practices.

The remarks have further escalated the political confrontation between the Samajwadi Party and the ruling BJP in Uttar Pradesh, with both sides trading sharp statements over governance, public services, and law and order.
