In a fiery address in the Rajya Sabha during the debate on the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor, Union Home Minister Amit Shah made a bold proclamation—declaring that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which first came to power under Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014, will continue to rule India for at least 30 more years. Shah added that the BJP government is committed to ensuring the liberation of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and a complete elimination of terrorism from Indian soil.
Amit Shah said, “The era of appeasement politics and shielding terrorists is over. Under PM Modi’s leadership, India will not only end terrorism but will also reclaim every inch of its rightful territory, including PoK.”
Addressing concerns over recent terror incidents, Shah proudly noted that no Kashmiri youth has been recruited into terrorist ranks in the last six months, and those killed in operations were foreign infiltrators from Pakistan.
Responding strongly to opposition remarks, Shah tore into Congress and its senior leader P. Chidambaram, who had earlier demanded Shah's resignation and questioned the nationality of the slain terrorists. “Who is Chidambaram trying to protect—Pakistan, Lashkar-e-Taiba, or terrorists?” Shah thundered.
He reminded the House of the “Hindu terror” narrative pushed during the UPA regime, asserting that none of those cases stood legal scrutiny. “Hindus can never be terrorists. All such false cases collapsed in court,” he said.
The Opposition, including Congress president and Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge, protested by walking out of the Rajya Sabha, demanding PM Modi’s presence in the House. They chanted slogans like “PM ko bulao,” accusing the Prime Minister of showing disregard for Parliament.
Shah, undeterred by the walkout, continued, pointing out Congress's long history of soft-pedaling on terrorism. “It was during the Congress regime that criminals like Dawood Ibrahim, Tiger Memon, and Syed Salahuddin escaped. Congress governments lacked the will and strength to act. Today, we are bringing them to justice,” he said.
Slamming Congress for asking why India did not reclaim PoK during Operation Sindoor, Shah shot back, “You gave it away. Now we will bring it back.” He also criticized Congress for their alleged softness toward China, highlighting how Jawaharlal Nehru gave away 38,000 sq km of land in Aksai Chin, and how Rahul Gandhi allegedly held secret meetings with Chinese officials.
