A police raid at a hotel in Karakat, Bihar, where Jyoti Singh, wife of Bhojpuri actor and BJP politician Pawan Singh, was staying, has triggered a political storm just hours before the second phase of voting.
In a video circulating online, Jyoti is seen confronting the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) about the search of her hotel room. She asked, “Why are you harassing me? Why did you enter my room without female officers? Am I a criminal?” The SDM reportedly replied, “There’s no one in your room. We’re doing our job.”
Jyoti alleged that officials violated protocol by not involving female police personnel, calling the raid “an intimidation tactic” aimed at her ahead of the elections. The district administration, however, stated the inspection was routine and conducted under the Model Code of Conduct. No formal police statement has been issued yet.
The raid occurs amid Jyoti’s ongoing personal dispute with Pawan Singh. Earlier this year, she accused him of mental harassment, infidelity, and political exploitation. She claimed he “used” her during his Lok Sabha campaign and allegedly provided her abortion pills multiple times, causing extreme mental stress.
Pawan Singh responded on social media, emphasizing that family matters should remain private and questioned why Jyoti resurfaced just before the polls. He denied all allegations and said the police presence at his Lucknow residence was part of routine procedures.
