Amid ongoing political tensions within the Pawar family, Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule reiterated on Thursday that her cousin and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar continues to avoid communication with her. The revelation came during the inauguration of an agriculture exhibition in Baramati, where the Pawar family shared the stage but showed visible signs of discord.

“I am in touch with Sunetra Pawar, Parth, and Jay Pawar. I try to talk to Ajit Pawar, but he refuses to talk to me,” Sule told reporters. She further recalled a similar instance during the Lok Sabha elections when she pointed out that even then, Ajit Pawar wouldn’t take her calls, although BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis did.

Family Dynamics Amid Political Rift

Supriya Sule highlighted the values instilled by her parents, Sharad Pawar and Pratibha Pawar, which guide her in staying connected with people despite the split within the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). “Sharad Pawar, Pratibha Pawar, and I have never criticized anyone after the party split. We remain in touch with the people,” she said.

At the event, Ajit Pawar and NCP chief Sharad Pawar shared the dais but refrained from engaging with each other. During his speech, Ajit Pawar acknowledged Sharad Pawar by name, but the NCP patriarch chose not to mention his nephew, further fueling speculation about their strained relationship.

Background

The NCP split in 2023, with Ajit Pawar leading a faction to align with the ruling BJP-Shiv Sena government in Maharashtra. This move caused a significant rift within the party and the family, with Supriya Sule and Sharad Pawar firmly opposing Ajit Pawar's decision.
